Here comes the fresh "Love's Delight," revised by Alberto Zedda! Nemorino, a simple peasant boy, is in love with the beautiful Adina, the owner of a farm in his village. But when the leader of a military platoon, the dapper Sergeant Bercole, appears in the village, he seduces Adina and promises to marry her. Nemorino tries to win Adina's heart back with a "love potion" recommended by the mountaineer Dulcamara, but... We are pleased to present the opera "Love Potion," which was performed on November 19, 2021, as the opening performance of the Donizetti Festival in the composer's hometown of Bergamo. Italian opera master Riccardo Frizza, well-known in Japan for his numerous guest appearances, will lead the Orchestra Ri-Originari, a period instrument ensemble, in an original production of "The Wonderful Medicine of Love," meticulously revised by Alberto Zedda. The stage, by Frederick Wake-Walker, is colorful and charming, incorporating skits by local children and a puppet show.The lead couple will be led by the lyric tenor Javier Camarena (Nemorino), one of the most popular on the world opera scene, and the young rising star soprano Caterina Sala (Adina), Florian Sempey (Belcore), a much sought after baritone at the Opera Buffa, and Roberto Frontali (Dulcamara), a veteran Verdi baritone, who has made his name as one of the most popular Verdi singers in the world.
