Festive music to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the band's formation--. Formed by former Opeth drummer Martin Lopez and former Willoughtree vocalist Joel Ekelof, Sweden's proud progressive rock act Sønen has created the world of "classic SOEN" with an 8-piece orchestra. This live studio video work, recorded in Sweden at the end of last year, captures their sound world in beautiful images, and is now available as a 2-CD+DVD set. Formed by former Opeth drummer Martin Lopez and former Willoughtree vocalist Joel Ekelof, SOEN is Sweden's premier progressive rock act. Since their debut album "COGNITIVE" in 2012, the band has released five albums, and has developed a unique style with their prog metal sound backed by their superb technique and a deep sound world that resembles Opeth and Pink Floyd.Last year they released their fifth studio album "IMPERIAL", and this year, their 10th year since their formation, they are releasing a live studio video work that captures their sound world in beautiful images. The music featured on this DVD and CD release is a special live studio performance of SOEN's best-known and fan-favorite songs performed with an orchestra. Recorded on December 10, 2021 at ATLANTIS GRAMMOFON in Stockholm, Sweden, where everyone from Quincy Jones to Lenny Kravitz and Green Day have recorded in the past, the members of SOEN performed with an eight-piece orchestra consisting of strings, piano, and chorus. SOEN members perform a total of 14 songs, including fan favorites such as "Antagonist," "Monarch," "Jinn," and "Lucidity," as well as a new song, "Trials," and a cover of Slipknot's "Snuff," with an eight-piece orchestra consisting of strings, piano, and chorus.The nearly 80-minute performance captures the new fascination found in SOEN's music in a way that fans will find deeply immersive and enjoyable. ATLANTIS was recorded by David Castillo and Inaki Marconi, and mastered by Tony Lindgren. The video was recorded by Blacktide Phonic/Visual, a UK-based video production company under the direction of George Laycock, and features a live studio performance of ATLANTIS with an orchestra, which could be described as a more subtle version of SOEN's rich and profound worldview.
