About Stone County Ironworks

Why We Do It

Stone County Ironworks is appropriately named after the county in Arkansas where our company was birthed almost 4 decades ago. As the business grew, we chose to remain, live and work in this small hardscrabble community where doing things the hard way comes naturally. Over the years, that pioneering independence has shaped the Stone County brand. We rely on old world tools and techniques to produce character and texture in our work. Those methods fit the throwback life we have built here. By any measure, doing what we do is hard. If it were easy, perhaps others would do it too.

Here you will find a simple and safe place where neighbors and employees are like family. It's a magical spot where people still wave, and stop to let others cross the street. Over time, folks here learned to socialize and entertain in wholesome ways that didn't cost much money. That’s why music and craft is still such an important part of a creative community that produces the artisans who make our company possible. We have over 1,000 items in our portfolio with millions of possible combinations. Much of our business is custom. We work in 100,000 square feet full of artisan blacksmiths, woodcarvers, coppersmiths and finish artists who can make anything. There is no place like it on earth.

The unique way we shape our steel requires a blend artistry and brawn. Strength and finesse, combining somehow to produce the wonderful art pieces you will find in homes and resorts everywhere.

It's a privilege to make functional art in a way that has otherwise faded into history. And, it’s a proud trade...that we love. Like pioneers who worked so hard to discover and then scratch out a life on their little plot of ground...ours is here. We are grateful that you stopped by. If we can serve you in some way, then our lives will be all the better for it. If you should call, or stop by our showroom in Mountain View, then we hope you will look back and feel like family.

The Forge

"a place where we get gritty... and sweat to convert iron to art every day"

We dream up new product ideas at night, on the phone with clients, in the shower, or in an air conditioned office. But at that point, it's just an idea. A nice sketch. Unless someone gets to work...picks up hammer and tong and fires up the forge, neither the dream, or those stacks of iron bars, strap and pipe in the back ever get a new shot at life as an amazing chandelier, a custom table or a gorgeous pot rack.

The Forge is truly a magical place. With artisan bodies fully in motion, yellow flames licking hot steel, ringing anvils and the pounding cadence of blow after blow...its more like the stormy deck of a pirate ship. Burly, bearded blacksmiths, laboring over ancient equipment using graceful tricks they learned from generations past. A combination of brawn and finesse. Nothing else like it on earth! And we wanted you to see it.

The video below show our gifted artisans making various products in our forge here in the Arkansas hills. We craft our product using tools and techniques that are over 100 years old. Our oldest tool was made in 1844, but the hammer, the anvil, and fire are still the essentials of the trade. It is hard, hot and demanding work, but it's worth it. Why?

"Because we will go to any length to create an heirloom treasure for you!"

Stone County Ironworks is unique among US makers. No other company produces such a wide range of products, all hand forged, using centuries-old tools and techniques. SCI is truly an American treasure. We offer this video archive so that you might appreciate the lengths we go to every day, in pursuit of our craft, for your good pleasure.

Description

This is the last fire-tool set you will ever need unless you buy it as a gift! Nothing says home like a fireplace, and nothing feels better than to handle a piece of hand-forged iron when you poke, sweep, shovel, or grab!

Stone County Ironworks is famous for the quality and beauty of these legendary fire tools! The poker design includes a side hook for rolling logs, and the tongs are made for ten lifetimes of lifting heavy logs with a unique fork that really grips. Our shovels are hot-riveted in place and will last forever. Each broom is hand-tied by gifted broom squires using age-old tools and techniques and the best straw available. Broom straw is available in your choice of natural, black, and rust.

Shown here in hand-rubbed bronze to highlight the bark, you may choose any iron finish option, and when you select gold or copper accents, we will highlight the design elements for a wonderful finishing touch. Be sure to look at log baskets and fire screens too!
