Description:
Verlec is a masterpiece that brings together the combined forces of the orchestra, singers, and ballet company belonging to the Zurich Opera. Verdi's "Requiem" was composed as a memorial to the great Italian writer Alessandro Manzoni. Although it is in the form of religious music, it is a piece that has remained popular even up to the present day because of its flamboyant musicality, as Verdi excelled at dramatic operas. However, at the time of its premiere, some people thought that such dramatic expression was "not appropriate for a church," but this video shows a stage performance that seems to have taken advantage of such opinions. The orchestra, chorus, and ballet of the opera house all came together to perform this outstanding performance. It is a comprehensive work of art made possible only by the Zurich Opera. The choreography and direction by Christian Spück, artistic director of the Zurich Ballet, beautifully expresses Verdi's outstanding descriptive power of music with monotone costumes and effective lighting. The ballet dancers' movements, as well as the placement of the singers, follow the music naturally, making this a must-see production. The conductor is Fabio Luisi. The collaboration of high musicality and visual effects is a performance that only Luisi, who has established a solid reputation as an opera conductor, can deliver.Imported, with Japanese obi and commentary.
