The Claire Opskühl Saxophone Quartet, renowned for its saxophone part in the Berlin Philharmonic and its exciting performances at the Lucerne Festival and the Schleswig-Holstein Festival, celebrates its 20th anniversary and Astor Piazzolla's 100th birthday simultaneously with a special anniversary album to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their founding and the 100th anniversary of Astor Piazzolla's birth! Aside from the excellence of the performances, the program is also elaborate, juxtaposing six of Piazzolla's most important musical models with Piazzolla's own works, offering a fresh and unprecedented perspective. The concept for the album was inspired by A manera de memorias, an anthology of interviews with Piazzolla by Argentine writer Natalio Gorin, and each of the six tableaus is entitled "Bach," "Paris," "Stravinsky," "Gardel," "Hinastera," and Jazz".
