The 2012 album, which debuted at #10 on the Billboard 200 and earned Esperanza her second Grammy Award (for Best Jazz Vocal Album), is now available on 180g weight 2LP in celebration of its 10th anniversary. (Pressed at RTI.) Gatefold version. The album features a stellar cast of jazz musicians, which makes it a success. The album was produced by Q-Tip, who wrote all but two of the songs on the album, "I Can't Help It," a Michael Jackson cover written by Stevie Wonder, and Wayne Shorter's "Endangered Species." Three all-star drummers, Terri Lynn Carrington, Jack DiJonet, and Billy Hart, saxophonist Joe Lovano, and guitarists Jeff Lee Johnson and Lionel Lueke on "Black Gold" (with his vocals and the Savannah Children's Choir also performs), and a truckload of other players.Spalding sings most of the lead vocals, but Leila Hathaway and Algebra Bressett also participate in duets. Backing vocals are provided by Gretchen Parlato (who also sings chorus on several songs) and Leni Stern. The horn section of the American Music Program appears on three songs.
