I've long admired antique pointing hand Whist markers/counters like this one, used for scoring the classic English trick-taking came, which was widely played in the 18th and 19th centuries. This lovely example, made of brass, was produced by Perry & Co London, and, based on the diamond shaped Podr registation mark on reverse, we can date it to Jan 31, 1860. The inner disk with hand turns smoothly to point to any number on the outer disk, 0-9, which is just fun to do--I'd invent games to play with it, or use it for tracking all sorts of things (cups of coffee, sinful thoughts, etc, ha!)
1 7/16" in diameter x 3/8" t. Good condition, rich patina, which I have not touched.
