I really love how Vernon E. Leighton stitched two ruled pages together in order to fully capture all of Uncle Sam's new buildings in Bangor Maine, which he did quite wonderfully I think, with careful attention to all the windows and doors, down to the the tassels and loops hanging from the shades in the bay windows of the house. A quick google search turns up that Vernon went on to become a composer, with works including "A Soldier's Dream," published in 1919--which would suggest this drawing likely dates to right around the turn of the century.
17 3/4" x 8" and in very good condition. There is a small tear in the paper along the top, where there are also two embossed marks. I found it folded down the center line, but it should out flat.
