A Symphony of One Hundred Voices

Hennessy Paradis was created by Maurice Fillioux in 1979 as a tribute to symphonic music. He compared the blend to "a symphonic orchestra" classical music that takes you away and connects with your emotions. The number of instruments in an orchestra is not necessarily a measure of its success, but rather the purity of sound it creates and the virtuosity of the conductor.

It was with this conviction that Maurice Fillioux the sixth Master Blender of the house drew from the treasure accumulated by his ancestors to compose an assembly of around one hundred exceptional eaux-de-vie. Some of these eaux-de-vie have been aged for up to 130 years, drawn from Hennessy's Founder's Cellar, where only the finest, rarest and oldest eaux-de-vie are kept. Each successive generation of Master Blenders the Fillioux family, father to son inherits this legacy and ensures it remains true to itself: graceful, harmonious, of an almost musical purity.

The eaux-de-vie in Hennessy Paradis have been aged exclusively in very old barrels, giving this cognac its amber gold colour. No new wood. No aggressive extraction. Only the slow, patient integration of age into the spirit decades of silent transformation in barrels that have themselves long since forgotten how to be wood, and have become nothing but time.

Tasting Notes

👁 Eye

A beautiful amber-gold hue. The colour of Paradis is that of autumn in the Charente warm, golden, deep, with coppery highlights that betray the decades spent in very old oak. It does not seek to impress through saturation; it seduces through a quiet luminosity, through the way it holds the light as if it were itself the source.

👃 Nose

On the nose, Hennessy Paradis releases floral notes of dried rose and honeysuckle, underpinned by intense notes of red fruits and spices. Jasmine and fresh blossoms assert themselves first with a finesse and delicacy that surprise given the depth of this cognac this is precisely the Paradis signature: aromatic youth preserved in spite of age. Undertones of mace and cinnamon, pepper, dried fruit peels and a sweet trace of acacia honey, accented by a whisper of rancio, then arrive to enrich and complexify this opening floral movement. The nose of the Paradis is a conductor's nose: every note arrives at the right moment, at the right intensity, never overwhelming the others.

👄 Palate

On the palate, an elegant, silky texture extends all the way through to a persistent and powerful finish. Honey, dried flowers, truffles and soft spices come to the fore. Layers of fresh flowers, spices, dried fruits and candied peels follow in succession with a generosity and precision that speak to the exceptional quality of the assembled eaux-de-vie. Nuances of cinnamon and cardamom marry harmoniously with aromas of dried roses and heather jam. The finish is exceptionally long, warm and aromatic the hallmark of a cognac that has not finished speaking long after the glass has been set down.
