SSI - 5th Ranger Battalion - Ranger Diamond - WWII X 300 Classic License Plate
The 5th Ranger Battalion's Ranger Diamond insignia was a significant part of their identity during World War II. The diamond patch was first approved for wear by all Ranger Battalions on 26 July 1943. It was worn by the 2nd and 5th Ranger Battalions stateside and carried with them to the European Theater, notably during the 6 June 1944 invasion of Normandy. However, later in the war, both battalions abandoned the diamond in favor of unofficial scrolls. The pattern insignia that was later adopted by the 75th Infantry Regiment on 26 July 1984 became the official insignia for the 75th Ranger Regiment.
