Quite a striking perspective, and more so for being doubled, making the view up to the light from deep inside "Jacob's Well" at Ausable Chasm look a bit as if captured through a pair of goggles or binoculars. This appears to be a rare one; I've just found one other out there held in the collection of the NY Public Library. SR Stoddard, printed along the left edge of the card, is short for Seneca Ray Stoddard, 1844-1917, American landscape photographer from Glens Falls NY, well known for his photographs of the Adirondack Mountains and also a naturalist, writer, poet, artist, and cartographer. His writings and photographs helped to popularize the Adirondacks including Ausable Chasm--"the Grand Canyon of the Adirondacks!".
7" x 3 7/8" and in very good condition, with the proportions of the card here perfectly amplifying the sense of the deep vertical views.
