Omega Seamaster Diver 300m 210.30.44.51.01.001 Watch Review

Since its launch in 1993, the Omega Seamaster Professional Diver 300M model has attracted incredible attention and genuine fans. The latest release in 2019 contains the latest chronograph variant of the line popularly known as the Bond Seamasters. This 44 mm chronograph is 17.5 mm thick and has a 21 mm space between the lugs. Crafted with stainless steel and a polished black bezel, this latest version also reincorporates Omega’s signature wave design.

The Bezel

The black ceramic bezel is equipped with a white enamel diving scale. It has a 60 minute timer to complement the 30 minute chronograph timer. A unidirectional rotation feature is important so that divers cannot accidentally rotate the bezel in the opposite direction and miscalculate how long they have been underwater.

The Dial

The dial of this timepiece has been totally redesigned and now looks more subtle and sharp. This Seamaster’s dial has laser-engraved Omega waves and a date window at six o’clock. The hour and minute hands have a differential loom in the dark to allow you easily read the watch. The dial’s sub-registers also have a blue loom for clear legibility.

The Bracelet

This bracelet feels as good as it looks on your wrist. The steel bracelet now has pivoted, rather than solid, end links to allow the watch to perfectly fit on your wrist. It is more squared at the lug’s edges, a feature that makes it look more like a sports watch bracelet. The five-link design has a polished intermediate feature, and the removable links are now joined with screws rather than pins. On the underside, there is bigger gap between the links to prevent them from pulling hair or pinching skin. The bracelet's clasp features a push-button slider, which gives you a 9.6 mm link adjustment.

Helium Escape Valve

The toothpaste cap-like Helium escape valve is a decompression system that opens up the inside of the watch when ascending from a dive, allowing helium to escape. When the internal pressure reaches 2-3 bars greater than the exterior, the accumulated helium will exit through the valve rather than blowing up the sapphire seal. A new addition enables you to open up the valve during a dive, unlike the previous variants.

Screw-down Crown

Another interesting feature of this updated timepiece is the self-locking crown that has been screwed into the tube of the case. The screw-in crown provides a high water resistance function to divers when activated.

New Ceramic Chronograph Pushers

The ceramic chronograph pushers feature little shoulders that make them look like screwed-in pushers, even though they are not. The shoulders have the sole purpose of providing extra strength and protection. You do not have to screw them up or down to use them.

The Case Back

The transparent case back is made of sapphire crystal so you can see the movement inside the watch.

The watch is equipped with two barrels that provide a 60 hour power reserve, superior precision, anti-magnetism, durability, less maintenance, and shock resistant features.

Other key features

This timepiece is a self-winding chronograph with Co-axial escapement. It is a certified master chronometer that has been tested and approved by METAS, resistant to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gs. This timepiece also meets the COSC standards, meaning it has been approved after undergoing tests on power reserve, chronometric performance, water resistance, anti-magnetism, and winding efficiency. All these are part of the master chronometer tests devised by Omega in partnership with the Swiss Federal Institute of Meteorology.
