This is a Chinese herbal formula known as Fang Feng Tong Sheng San, or Bofutsushosan in Japan. This formula is reported to provide relief of symptoms such as fever, sore throat, and red eyes that are commonly associated with acute inflammatory conditions.

It supports the body’s natural elimination processes by promoting bowel movements and urinary excretion to help reduce internal excess heat.

It helps relieve constipation by improving intestinal motility and softening stools.

It also supports healthy circulation of energy and blood flow, which may help reduce feelings of congestion or stagnation in the body.

This is a powdered formula that can be mixed into water.

Precautions:

Failure to observe the following may worsen symptoms or cause adverse reactions:

1. Do not use in combination with other laxatives.
2. Do not use in nursing women. If used, breastfeeding must be avoided.

Consult a physician, pharmacist, or registered distributor before use if you:

1. Are currently receiving medical treatment.
2. Are pregnant or may be pregnant.
3. Are physically weak or have constitutional frailty.
4. Have weak gastrointestinal function or a tendency toward diarrhea, especially diarrhea with severe abdominal pain.
5. Have excessive sweating.
6. Are elderly.
7. Have experienced rash, redness, itching, or allergic reactions to medicines.
8. Have symptoms such as edema or difficulty urinating.
9. Have been diagnosed with hypertension, heart disease, kidney disease, or thyroid disease.

The following adverse reactions may occur. If any appear, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional (bring this leaflet with you):

Skin: rash, redness, itching
Gastrointestinal: nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, stomach discomfort, abdominal bloating, severe diarrhea, abdominal pain
Neuropsychiatric: dizziness
Other: sweating, palpitations, edema, headache

Seek immediate medical attention if the following occur:

• Interstitial pneumonia: shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, dry cough, fever (especially during exertion)
• Pseudohyperaldosteronism / myopathy: fatigue, muscle weakness, stiffness, pain in limbs that worsens over time
• Hepatic dysfunction: fever, itching, rash, jaundice, dark urine, fatigue, loss of appetite
• Mesenteric phlebosclerosis (with long-term use): recurrent abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal bloating

Other precautions

• If symptoms such as diarrhea or constipation persist or worsen, discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional.
• If no improvement is seen after about 1 month (or 1 week when used for constipation), stop use and seek advice.
• For long-term use, consult a physician or pharmacist.

Dosage: Take the following doses with water or warm water before meals:

• 15 years and over: as directed (standard adult dose)
• 7–14 years: 2/3 packet
• 4–6 years: 1/2 packet
• 2–3 years: 1/3 packet
• Under 2 years: do not use

Take twice daily.

Important: Administer to children only under adult supervision.

Ingredients:

Each 2 packets (3.75 g) contain 2.25 g of Bofutsushosan extract derived from the following crude drugs:

Aluminum silicate hydrate with silicon dioxide, Scutellaria root (1.5 g), Glycyrrhiza (1.0 g), Platycodon root (1.0 g), Gypsum (1.0 g), Atractylodes rhizome (1.0 g), Rhubarb (0.75 g), Schizonepeta spike (0.6 g), Gardenia fruit (0.6 g), Peony root (0.6 g), Cnidium rhizome (0.6 g), Angelica root (0.6 g), Mentha herb (0.6 g), Saposhnikovia root (0.6 g), Ephedra herb (0.6 g), Forsythia fruit (0.6 g), Anhydrous sodium sulfate (0.35 g), Ginger (0.15 g)

Inactive ingredients: magnesium stearate, lactose hydrate, sucrose fatty acid esters

Storage:

• Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• If using a divided dose, fold the opened packet edge and store it; use remaining portion within 2 days.
• Color variation may occur due to crude ingredients, but this does not affect efficacy.
• Do not use after the expiration date.
