Do I need to clear coat this after painting?

Yes. The Raw FRP finish protects the weave during transport but requires topcoat paint and clear coat for durability and UV protection. Without clear coat, the finish will yellow and degrade under sunlight exposure.

Will the carbon weave be visible after I paint it?

Not if you apply a full primer base and paint layers. The weave texture will show through if you wet-sand the primer or use translucent colors. Most builders apply thick primer, then solid base and clear for a smooth, uniform finish.

Do I need to seal the edges where the carbon meets the trunk frame?

Yes. Carbon fiber edges are porous and will absorb moisture if exposed. Use edge sealant or ensure your topcoat process fully covers all perimeter edges. Proper sealing prevents water intrusion and edge delamination over time.
