Unit History

The 2nd Battalion, 39th Infantry Regiment, was part of the 9th Infantry Division and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington. Known as the "Fighting Falcons," this battalion was recognized for its light infantry capabilities and its readiness to deploy rapidly. The unit has a history of service during significant military engagements, including the Vietnam War, where the 9th Infantry Division played a pivotal role. The 2nd Battalion, along with the division, was deactivated in the early 1990s as part of post-Cold War military restructuring.
