Turquoise is said to have first been mined over 6000 years ago, in the Sinai peninsula of Egypt.

Diamond is the birthstone for April, and should be given on a 10th and 60th anniversary. Turquoise is the traditional gift for an 11th anniversary, and is the alternative birthstone for December. D

Turquoise was used by the ancient Egyptians as far back the first dynasty, it's well known use being in King Tut's iconic burial mask.
