A very high quality Edwardian dressing case in a beautiful and very distinctive purple crocodile leather. Lined with purple silk moire fabric, the case contains most of the original fittings including a silver backed mirror, brushes and silver topped bottles and jars, hallmarked London 1905. In addition to these, this Edwardian dressing case also contains a variety of items that would be regarded as necessities for an Edwardian lady when travelling;- a jewellery box, needle case, card case and manicure set (not complete) all covered in purple leather and lined in the same luxurious purple silk moire as the interior. There is also a letter opener, glove stretchers and a spirit heater (for curling tongs) which is very neatly housed in a silvered metal box. The condition of the crocodile case is generally very good, there is evidence of a small early repair to the front of the case, but this is not easily visible. There is some slight wear and cracking to the handle. The case and leather contents are stamped with the name Mawson, Swan and Morgan, Newcastle, a highly prestigious retailer in the North East. This antique crocodile dressing case is a superb example of the luxury, style and glamour that surrounded the nobility in the Edwardian age
