Composer Ferdinand Ries has been receiving an increasing number of performances and album releases in recent years. In the past, he was only emphasized as "Beethoven's disciple and biographer," but recently he is gaining more and more recognition as "a composer who wrote many unique works as a bridge from the Classical to the Romantic era, This album is the second collection of "flute-based" works in the complete chamber music cycle. As in the first collection (555051), this album is performed by the Aldinghero Ensemble. It includes a flute quartet and three string trios. Ries was known as a pianist, but in all of the pieces, he was innovative in his treatment of string instruments, and in particular, the violin is given technical passages, showing that he was proficient in these instruments as well.
